@Exedor It's even watermarked by the company in multiple places.
Photography is not allowed in the Art Portal. It is ok in the Animation Portal, tho, as long as it's not a slideshow of images.
It's a crappy submission. You can vote 0 if you want. But rule-breaking based on usage of photos? Nope.
@Exedor What about copyright?
@Exedor Are you daft? He didn't take the photo, he found it on the internet and copy pasted it.
Imma say this again.
Photography.
IS NOT.
Allowed in the Art Portal.
Photographs MAY BE USED in animations and videos.
It's ok.
Fo real.
It doesnt matter if there's a watermark. This guy does it all the time, and yet people vote up his videos instead of v0ting appr0priately>>> https://zabujard.newgrounds.com/ <<< Would love to see more blams go in that direction, as he often barely squeaks by.
@Exedor So I can use anyone else's photograph in my animation if I want to? It doesn't need to be in the public domain?
Soo many classic submissions have similarly possibly not entirely legit photo usage though, if this isn't alright it'd be a real rabbit hole of content removal, hope not... the fair use clause possibly makes it a bit of a gray area though...
Yes, you can use photos in your submissions. In the submission listed, there's a bouncing head, there are photo backgrounds, it's all ok. If it was a slideshow, that'd be a different story. Only in the Art Portal is photography not allowed. :)
Thank you for including me
@Exedor Tom posted about the use of unlicensed stock photos in one of the tablet giveaways.
https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1460366
"I want to remind everyone that you should never use unlicensed stock photography in your work. These photos are represented by licensing agencies that expect payment and the courts are on their side. There’s been an Internet trend in recent years where people toss stock photos in stuff as a gag - I can tell you from experience that you won’t be laughing if you get the bill. I just removed a piece this morning after receiving an infringement notice."
I think that is where Belthagor is showing concern and is confused. To be honest I'm a little confused myself.
@The_Great_One Could you ping Tom Fulp for commentary. We should not be getting negative whistle points for this, but positive whistle points... I was not even sure if I could mark it as innapropriate or not because of what Exe said.
@The-Great-One Sorry it didn't ping you before, read my previous message.
I'll do it myself. It's faster. @TomFulp Someone has used stock photography in his animation. I thought this is not allowed because of copyright but mods are saying that it is...
I removed the submission because it was largely stock photos mixed with some video. I don't think we need to aggressively hunt down old spam entries but I do want to encourage artists to be more careful moving forward, so it's not one of our Problems of the Future.
Also please don't organize mass flagging of content, it's best when individuals make their own choices about flagging things they see, vs only responding to group calls like this.
