Really nice and calming. Upbeat at the same time, nice job on that. The highlight of the song would be the varying tempo and pauses for sure. Can hear all the instruments/electronic vsts perfectly fine and nothing gets lost in the mix. Nice choice of kit too. 5/5 Great work.

Sounds pretty good. I would make the volume levels a bit more consistent though, you can still have variations but maybe not so sharp ones? Composition and instrumentation is great 5/5 on that. I like the electronic orchestra going on. It's a very original idea, has not been done before.

Mixing/Mastering: 5/5
Melody: 5/5
Effects: 4/5 (The part at 50 seconds, when the volume picks up, could be a bit more immersive is the only reason I am not rating it a 5/5.)

I've never used garageband, nor am I a pro at basslines but this is a pretty chill song. I like fl studio for jotting down my ideas. The free version no longer has an annoying popup that says part of the song will be silent because it's free. You can even save songs in it. More instruments -please use them. A cheap way, and you'll probably learn this in music theory, to add an instrument would be to start with a chord progression which is made of just chords, no single notes in part of your song. Then overlap a single note in each of the chords with the next instrument vst you'd like to use, creating an overlapping but matching melody. If you use the same chord twice in a row in background from the previous instrument, try not to pick the same exact note in both chords with the next one. Idk if I explained this well but hopefully you could think up something from it. Changes in tempo/volume would be good. Most of the song is around the same tempo. If you use fl I can show you how to make an automation clip for tempo in a song. A little bit of reverb would be good as well. Google it. Good work 4.5/5 stars.

Thanks man! I definitely could have done more with this but I didn’t want to put much more time in it, although looking back I definitely should have. At the moment making music is a bit of a pastime although I would like to develop my style and technique much more. Thanks again for the feedback!

Well made composition. Bright and cheerful. Lovely hints of old dos game tracks and celtic inspiration as the previous comment said. I like the ending the most, and I look forward to playing the game when it's out. :D The retro games usually have a melodic line with mildly annoying sounds in it though, but the tracks are well made so you don't really notice it. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H5M5FAGq0c I think I will vote... 5/5.

That Space Bats soundtrack is craaaaazy!

Good track but a bit too much repetition. 4.5/5

MajorMusic responds:

It's a Hymn so it repeats twice.

I agree with the dynamic range part. The song is really good and has vocals - yay! Maybe some differences in velocity of notes in chords in the piece would make it sound more interesting, for example the highest note plays at top, leading to lowest note least velocity in a single chord, and then the second time the same chord is used, the opposite with velocity. IDK I just think it would sound better that way. The song is a little sharp but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Pan occasionally left and right in an automation clip might be nice as well. Also the song sounds really good the way it is right now.

Aydin-Jewelz123 responds:

Nice one dude, great tips! Gonna jot those down for future reference.

Never really tinker much with velocities of notes, only really on piano or orchestral bits and even then I would never have thought to do what you suggested! It does sound pretty neat, especially to add some flavour to the piece without going through and having to completely change sections. I guess it changes the emphasis right?

Panning too, I usually pan things as I go but here I was more concentrated on just getting a loud, complicated sound and left the panning to the end. By then I'm kinda familiar to how it sounds so didn't do much in terms of panning outside of the sweepers.

Will have a dig at those sometime and see if I can improve the track! Sure does make sense in my mind, just a case of figuring out where to do it.

Cheers dude

It's pretty good and interesting, but some plain background music at a low volume would help it a bit I think. Pm me if you want an example and I can make something for you to play in the background, as a test.

GroundsPatrol responds:

Thanks belthagor. I think i might experiment with some light BG music in segments that aren't interviews...

5/5, Great work. The only thing would be that it doesn't sound very chaotic, as the title says.

Deff-Strife responds:

I agree with you, I have problems with it :)

It's pretty good, but I would make the spikes in volume a bit lower on left and right side of wavelength. And make it a bit less loud.

Very nice track! Did you make it in fl studio?

IXentimenTI responds:

Yeah I work in FL. :)
