Memory of Roses

Posted by Belthagor - 7 days ago

When I was young I spoke with a family member. I told her in Bulgarian language.. "when an adult wants to do something romantic it's not difficult to do so at all. Just add the word "new" in front of something material. For example. A new rose."

I took a pause and provided an example.

"A botanist has a girlfriend or lover. He isn't rich yet he knows how to cross a rose plant with another. It takes a few months to grow. Now. This rose may be very affordable yet it took time to make. It's the only bouquet of its type on the whole earth. And that is why it's romantic and makes sense to make."

She smiled.

I paused and said "So we should use our knowledge to do good things."

[She had asked me if I think adults do the same romantic gestures for eachother every generation, to explain.]

The last thing she said after I had said that a botanist doesn't make much money was "More than you think."

I think that she was thinking that someone in many careers would make their usual paycheck but for a few years they could do something great that helps their retirement later. They may make a million or a bit more through it. I replied that I think the only country that would let them have the freedom to do it would be the US.
